The digitization of the world of work is progressing rapidly. However: many companies - but also private individuals - see the benefits of cloud critically. But cloud services are very common in our digital life. In this contribution to cloud knowledge, we want to show you where you use the cloud without being too active to find out. Because your daily life is darker than you think.
CLOUD KNOWLEDGE
When you think of the Cloud, what comes to mind? The most common answer to this question might be "online storage", i.e. services like Google Drive, Dropbox or Apple's iCloud. This service has become established in our daily digital work. Because it doesn't matter whether it's at university or at work - where you've never been faced with one of the famous cloud stores at least once?
WHERE DOES AWAN APPEAR IN EVERYDAY LIFE?
Besides this famous example, there are other digital areas where we use cloud storage to make our lives easier.
1. FORMATION OF NEW SMARTPHONE
After you get a new smartphone yourself, you are busy with its settings. And it doesn't matter if you use Microsoft, Google or Apple - in any case, you must first log into the company's cloud. What most people don't know: If you don't adjust your default settings, your contacts, photos and calendar will be stored in the cloud.
2. SERIAL AND MUSIC STREAMING
Increasingly, we watch our favorite series and films through streaming services like Netflix, Prime Video or Sky Go. Once again, providers use cloud technology so you can watch content online. For a monthly fee, you can watch as many shows and films online - and most importantly, wherever you want. Even if you use music streaming services like Spotify, Apple Music or Napster - you are in the cloud. All streaming services combine to store millions of music tracks and albums on a server that you can access via your mobile device. You pay mostly low fees or you use the freeware version and get paid for advertising.
3. ADOBE CREATIVE SUITE
Adobe Creative Cloud is a selection of software programs and services as a service offered by Adobe Systems in the fields of graphic design, photo editing, web development, and photography. This includes programs for your mobile device as well as cloud-based services. With Creative Cloud, this service is available via the Internet through a monthly or annual payment model (subscription). After installing software from the cloud on your local workstation, the software can be used when an active subscription.
4. OFFICE PROGRAMS FROM CLOUD
In addition to Google Drive's popular cloud storage and Gmail e-mail server, Google also offers word processing software from the cloud with Google Docs. You can also easily make spreadsheets and presentations on the Web here. But this convenience isn't always there: Maybe you also remember that you have to install the Microsoft or Apple Office application on the computer before. It belongs to the past now. After all, Microsoft also outsourced its Office programs to the cloud with Office 365 - for your benefit.
5. FAMOUS EMAIL
If you use GMX, Gmail or AOL services for email, you are also in the cloud. Because the mailbox can be accessed through a browser and your email is stored on the server provider. For comparison: Microsoft Outlook must be installed as software on a computer.
WHAT IS THE USE OF THIS INFORMATION?
Maybe one of you has a little aha at the end of the post. Because once you ask yourself: For everyday things we use - most unconsciously - back to the clouds. And most of our personal data is processed here. So why not extend this to your professional life? With the help of smart solutions, you can certainly optimize your daily work and benefit from increased productivity
