Amazon Recorded a Third Consecutive Quarter in Cloud Services

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a big player in this business. According to Synergy Research Group, AWS's annual revenue reaches US $ 23 billion with a market share of 40%. With millions of active customers, AWS has more than 140 services for developers and businesses that continue to grow.

Amazon's cloud facilities will come to Bahrain, Hong Kong, Italy and South Africa, and the company is competing to win a US $ 10 billion US Defense Department contract. AWS also controls more large corporate customers in the form of long-term contracts.

Amazon Internet company again posted a quarterly record. Thanks to the strong cloud business and Christmas business, strong growth was again achieved in the fourth quarter of last year. Revenues rose 20 percent to $ 72.4 billion compared to the previous year.

Net income rose nearly 60 percent to a record $ 3.0 billion (2.6 billion euros), although the Amazon benefited from the previous year's large tax credit. However, market reaction was initially cautious: Stocks fell to US after-hours trading to minus. Shortly before the numbers, Amazon shares on the Nasdaq 3 percent remained at 1718.73 dollars from lost trade.

Amazon's balance sheet has been driven in recent years by the increase in high margin businesses. This includes, above all, the Group Cloud Division itself. With growth there, the heavyweight industry can absorb yield margins in traditional retail businesses, which continue to grow but ultimately produce less.

Amazon's estimated sales for the quarter are now far from analyst expectations. For the full fiscal year 2018, technology billionaire group Jeff Bezos increased revenue by 31 percent to $ 232.9 billion. The surplus more than tripled from $ 3.0 billion to $ 10.1 billion.
